It's Spicier in Texas! - April 15-17, San Antonio, Texas

Immerse yourself in three full days of herbal presentations, workshops, book signings, roundtables and socializing. The Herb Society of America has gathered chefs and recipe developers; botanists and herbalists; commercial herb growers and foragers to present live at the 2026 HSA Educational Conference. This is the first full three-day conference in over six years and the conference planners are working diligently to curate a wonderful, educational experience for all!

Presenter Highlights

Keynote Speaker, Chef Sergio Remolina, will explore the bold, peppery side of the herb garden in Nature’s Heat, a flavorful exploration of edible herbs that bring natural spice to the table. From the zesty bite of arugula to the wasabi-like sting of mustard greens, this presentation dives into the world of pungent leaves, blossoms, and shoots that awaken the palate. 

Capsicum: Chile Peppers from Mild to Wild - presented by Susan Belsinger and Tina Marie Wilcox, Learn how easy chiles are to cultivate, about their various flavor profiles, as well as their range of heat-from mild to wild. Find out how chiles work in the body and why they are good for you.

The Herbal Landscape with Sue Goetz - Spice up your landscape! Get to know the best herbs for garden design that add architecture and color for all seasons and ways to mingle and combine herbs beautifully with other ornamental landscape plants.

Herbs in Every Season with Bevin Cohen - In this fun and informative presentation, we'll explore some of Bevin's favorite herbs - through the lens of the seasons. 

Mythic Plants: Herbs and Spices in Ancient Greece - In this presentation, Ellen Zachos, will celebrate plants through the lens of Greek mythology and ancient everyday life, when herbs and spices were used to nourish, intoxicate, heal, and make magic.

Traveling to San Antonio

San Antonio International Airport has nonstop flights from many major American cities including Philadelphia, PA, New Orleans, LA, San Francisco, CA, Washington DC and more. Houston offers many more options and is located about a three hour drive to San Antonio for attendees who want to see a little bit of Texas on their way to the Conference.

If you choose to drive in, parking charges range from $15 to $42 per day, depending on the type of parking chosen.

Hotel Information

The conference hotel is the Holiday Inn Riverwalk. "Located in the heart of the city and on the San Antonio Riverwalk, our hotel is within steps of the city's top attractions, entertainment, and historic landmarks. Right outside our doors, explore The Alamo, Historic Market Square, Alamodome, and the Majestic Theater." Visit the hotel's website for information about location and amenities.
