Before the Unit meeting, we are thrilled to have a local Master Gardener from Howard County, Maryland as speaker. Ann Coren is the founder of the "Garden to Garment Project" in partnership with the Chesapeake Fibershed. In this world of petroleum-based synthetic clothing, she will remind us and renew our knowledge of five herbal plant fibers that we can still grow, and, she will encourage us with some history and up-to-date facts. There are five community organizations, nationally, who are actively growing, processing, and educating people about plant fibers, just in time for the Herb of the Year 2027 = FLAX!
