June's the time to celebrate roses! Start with a fascinating lecture by garden historian Lesley Parness (lesleyparness.com) about France's Empress Josephine Bonaparte, whose love of roses stopped a war, cost a fortune, built an empire, and healed a broken heart. Following the lecture, enjoy light "rose" refreshments and demonstrations by Herb Society members on rose propagation and some easy, fun ways to use the rose in your kitchen and your bath.
