Ozark Unit

Mission Statement
To promote the knowledge, use and delight of herbs through educational programs, research and sharing of information and experience with the community and visitors.

Meeting Times
Generally, the second Saturday of the Month, 11:00am at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View, Arkansas. Guests are always welcome; please contact current chairperson before traveling, as meeting day and time are occasionally subject to change.

The Ozark Unit is active in promoting and participating in several annual herbal events hosted by the Heritage Herb Garden at the Ozark Folk Center State Park, including the Herbal Field Trip and Medicinal Herb Workshop and, National Herb Day, both held in the spring and the Herb Harvest Fall Festival, which takes place the first weekend in October. Our members collaborate on the construction of our interpretive display garden for the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show, held each year in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Members also give many volunteer hours to maintain The Folk Kids' Mountain Garden within the park. We contribute to our educational outreach by presenting herbal programs in our local communities. Each member in turn shares knowledge gained in the study of an herb of their choice at our monthly unit meetings, often including hands-on demonstrations and samplings.
