Ozark Unit

Mission Statement: to promote the knowledge, use and delight of herbs through educational programs, research and sharing of information and experience with the community and visitors.

Meeting Times: the first Saturday of the Month, 11:00am at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View, Arkansas.

The Ozark Unit is active in promoting and participating in several annual herbal events hosted by the Heritage Herb Garden at the Ozark Folk Center State Park, including the Spring Medicinal Herb Weekend, National Herb Day and the Heritage Herb Fall Harvest Festival. Our members collaborate on the construction of our interpretive display garden for the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show, held each year in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Members also give many volunteer hours to maintain The Folk Kids' Mountain Garden within the park and The Calico Rock Museum Herb Garden in Calico Rock, Arkansas. We contribute to our educational outreach by presenting herbal programs in our local communities. Each  member in turn shares knowledge gained in the study of an herb of their choice at our monthly unit meetings, often including hands-on demonstrations and samplings.
