"'Golden Jubilee' is a release from the Sahin Seed Company of Europe and a 2002
Fleuroselect Award-winning perennial. It was introduced to honor Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
on her Golden Jubilee. It makes a dense clump 24'' tall and 20'' wide of chartreuse-golden
licorice-scented foliage. Leaf color is best in full sun. In July, purple bottlebrush-like
flower spikes of 2 to 3 inches top the stems, blooming summer into fall. Deadhead the flowers
to extend the bloom. 'Golden Jubilee' is a wonderful butterfly and hummingbird plant for the
herb garden and, like its other cousins, is a great honey plant much loved by the bees.
'Golden Jubilee' can be seeded or propagated with cuttings, and is hardy in Zones
5-8." – Dorothy Bonitz,
Promising Plants Presentation, 2005
* In addition to the uses listed above, the species, Agastache
foeniculum, was used medicinally by Native Americans and has been used as a culinary herb
but is not GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe). Whether these uses apply to this cultivar is
unknown.
