The Native Herb Conservation Committee is compiling a list of natives by state, asking members to share those plants that are local and can be used to augment backyard plantings. Creating more opportunities for pollinators, these plants can be used effectively to create a more natural and sustainable environment. Often, native plants do better and with less care than non-natives in the same situation.
Though the list is not complete, we hope to add to it as information comes in. Also, you can often look to a surrounding state for options, as many plants do not heed state boundaries. If your zone is similar, and soil and other cultural conditions are met, these plants may do well in your area as well.
These are recommendations from our members and do not constitute a complete list. We hope sharing these plant suggestions will help you in making wise choices for your local landscape.
